Activity: Candy Cane Experiment

On Friday night, I busted out a new Christmas-related science experiment that I found on Pinterest.  You submerge three candy canes in liquid: one in cold water, one in warm water, and one in vinegar.  The Pinterest link also contains a free printable with spots for the child to write out their predictions, so that was a fun bonus!  He predicted that predicted that cold water would lose its color, warm water would shrink, and vinegar would totally dissolve.  The warm water candy cane dissolved the fastest but they all eventually dissolved.  I was hoping the vinegar glass would be more dramatic or cool but he was still impressed with watching them get more and more damaged and fall apart.

Vinegar, Warm Water, Cold Water

The vinegar glass...COOL!

He wanted to add a label to this one.

By the end of the night!

We attended a Christmas event on Friday night and got to hang out with some of my awesome coworkers!  Even got to make reindeer food and decorate some Christmas cookies!

Game #5

Duncan had a great game on Saturday.  No points but had some great assists and his defense was stellar!  They are 3-2 with one game left in the season!

Little Allstar

It is so hard to get decent basketball pictures because everyone travels in clumps and the speed is a little intense.  I tried.  They won their last game so they are 2-2.  He always starts a little slow and then fires up in the second half of the game.  He made three baskets in the last game including the last basket of the game (I think...like I said, it's a little chaotic out there).  I love watching him play!
